Some of the HHI (UK) commitee visited a Toyota dealer to look for a replacement vehicle for Monze. It appears they had a good day out with coffee, time to relax and viewing the vehicle which meets all requirements. The money for the vehicle was donated by Mr Lambie (Scout Project money) of Strathaven; HHI thank Mr Lambie for his very generous donation and to Iain Park and our friends in Strathaven who are working very hard in their support for HHI. This vehicle will enable HHI Monze to resume all of their medical outreach and disability works, both had been severely hampered by having an unrelaiable vehicle and having to depend on other people to help with transport.

On Saturday 21st April 2012 the Strathaven Friends of HHI held a very successful Bridge/Whist Drive as you can see from these photographs. It turned out to be a well run and very enjoyable event and raised funds for HHI work. HHI wish to thank them very much for this success and for their continued support.

One of Zambia's key resources is sunshine! Choongo school now has solar panels and battery installed to provide lighting and power for equipment such as laptop computers to enhance their living quarters and education. The solar energy provides power to the dormitory.

HHI would like to thank Weir Group for making this work possible through their substantial donation.

Pastor Santhosh has sent us some photographs of recent developments at Asha Kiran Ashram, our centre for disabled children.

Just before our last visit to India, we were given donations by Ponthir Church and the Beaufort Active Ladies Association, both of whom are supporters of our work.  We were able to use the money to buy a set of parallel bars, a wax bath and a peg board, all of which are being used by our physiotherapist and special needs teachers so as to help the children to develop their ability to stand and walk, to help their joints become more supple, and to improve their co-ordination and control.  Along with the other skills of the staff and equipment, the children are developing remarkably well, beyond their parents' wildest dreams.  The pictires show the equipment, and the use that is being made of it.

The final picture shows the work being done on our latest development, which is a residential hostel for the most severely disabled children.  We hope that this will be finished and opened shortly.

HHI is doing all it can to help the community in Mumba - a very poor place with many disadvantaged people. Work is in progress with some sccuesses to date - a food programme for the children and the start of the building for a new school room.
