Dear Prayer Partners,

We give thanks and glory to God that 2012 has started well for HHI.
Edmund Plummer and Iain Park have safely returned from an inspiring time with Tom in India. I am sure you will be keen to read about our project developments in Tidings, as well as finding out how we can pray for the work of HHI in India.
In the first week of 2012, the HHI container arrived in Monze, Zambia - another reason to give praise and thanks to God. It arrived safely, without expensive delays and it took just over 70 days to make the journey from Newport to Monze via Mozambique. We are delighted and, needless to say, the HHI staff in Monze are very excited too. People who have been waiting will receive blankets, clothes, wheelchairs, beds, tools and much more.
Collecting, packing and sending the container has become an annual event in which the HHI UK team are becoming increasingly more proficient. However, unpacking it, storing it and donating it to many needy people in Zambia is an onerous task. It takes time, knowledge and painstakingly hard work for our dedicated staff in Monze. I was moved by the words of wisdom spoken by Mr Tabo Maheritona, the chair of trustees in Zambia, as he addressed the HHI staff just before the container was received .
He reminded everyone to reflect on the Mission statement of HHI:
‘.. in everything we do we seek to obey God’s command to love our neighbour as ourselves..’
He asked everyone to ‘keep these words in their minds all the time when the container arrives from UK’. Furthermore, he asked people to be ‘gentle and truthful to our clients irrespective of their status in society’.
We can all keep these words in our minds as we journey together through 2012. Let us give thanks to God that the distribution of the container items is in very safe hands!

Pastor Sam and family

Pastor Sam, who for many years worked with destitute and psychiatric patients at Thanal House, died peacefully in the arms of his wife Valsala in early November. Please give thanks for his life, work and faith. God changed him into someone with a great love for the women that he served and a great care for them. We will miss him.
Please also pray for his widow Valsala, and his daughters Shyni and Salini as they mourn for him. They clearly miss him badly, but their faith and assurance that he is now with the Lord shines through, and we were able to have a happy time with them on our recent visit.
Salini and Valsala have taken over the running of Thanal House. Please pray for them as they do so. One effect that they have already discovered is that their ability to raise funds has diminished – please pray that God will supply all their needs and the needs of the patients according to his riches in glory.
