A stitch in time saves …
Following on from our earlier post, we’ve had the stories of two of the women who are learning tailoring. They illustrate some of the problems of Indian culture that are all to common. Pastor Wilson writes:
1. Soumya: She is a lady from a very poor family. She has a husband and two children. She is 35 years old. Her husband was a coolie (a daily labourer who tries to get a job for the day each morning – an uncertain task as there are more labourers than jobs). But he is a drunken man . Every day he gets drunk with his bad friends. And every evening he is in her home shouting. So, her life has no peace. And also poverty . Children are hungry. Because this person does not give any money for food. And one year ago her husband held an accident. And a lot of injuries his body. So, life is too much horrible.
Then she decided to come study Tailoring training . Now she is continuing the training. She believes that after the training she will buy a tailoring machine then start her job and will be earn money for their daily life.
2.Thankam. She is a lady from very poor family. She has two daughters. One is married and one is studying. Her husband is a coolie person. After her daughter married.they are face lot of problems with the dowry system. The husband was asked for more money for dowry. So they’re are very sad. Then they took a loan from the bank and gave it to her daughter’s husband. But they are not able to pay back the loan to the bank because her husband not working every day. Then she thought to start studying tailoring training. After her training she will try to buy a tailoring machine and do the job from her home. Then earn money every day. The training is continuing . She is getting a new hope her life.
