DAY 3 Wednesday 13th September 2023

Sylvia and Simon

After the hospital visit where we were gratefully thanked for our contributions, (Nik also filmed the Monze Mission  water tower donated in Carole’s name . It is impressive.) we travelled a short distance to see Sylvia who is a grant beneficiary. She was a recipient  because she is a single mother with a disabled boy called Simon. He is 6 years old, but he looks about three. He can’t walk. The stall was busy as it’s outside school gates, and Sylvia sells cool drinks, home-made scones and sweets. She is a very lovely lady.

Our visit today was to donate a wheelchair for Simon . The wheelchair was one of the 12 donated to HHZ in July by the bank of Zambia. It was withheld until our visit so that we could film it being given out to a needy child. Jute gave Simon some cars and he was totally absorbed with the gift.  He also received a trendy cap. He is now able to sit safely by Sylvia while she attends to her customers and then  wheel him home at the end of the day. Before we left, we purchased 6 scones from Sylvia  for our lunch. A good outcome for everyone.
