DAY 5 Friday 15th September 2023
Early Visitors – Beauty and Mayaba
Brenda & Mwansa greeted two mothers at 7.30 am (Pics below).
Beauty, one of five children, is 9 years old and disabled. She uses an HHZ wheelchair and has epilepsy. Her mother, a single parent (absent father), was asking HHZ for some help to start an income generating venture. She would like to have a stall selling scones and sweets outside one of the schools. After some discussion, it was decided that she would be added to the list of 5 grant beneficiaries, who will receive funding in the September allocation. We gave her some fruit to take with her and she will return for the grant funding at the beginning of October.

Mrs Mainza and Mayaba
The other mother waiting for assistance was Mrs Mainza. Her son, Mayaba, is 14 years old. He had a growth on his forehead as a baby, possibly a tumour, which has affected his eye. He has been treated at the BEIT children’s hospital in Lusaka many times and has another appointment on Monday at 8 am. Mayaba’s mother showed us his appointment card and came asking for transport funding and some money to support her and her 9month old baby while in Lusaka, for what could possibly be 5 days, while the surgeons investigate Mayaba’s condition. It was possible to help her with the SFHHI funding which was given to us for use during our stay. They left with £65 and were extremely happy. Thank you SFHHI supporters for your generosity.
