As a disabled child born to peasant farmers, Bright had limited prospects. He is highly intelligent and very articulate but being blind meant that within his own family and wider society, he felt he was an ‘outcast in life’.
With support given by HHI, coupled with his ability and dedication, Bright began his teaching career at Maamba School in 2011 and since 2018 has taken a new post with the Ministry of Education.
Bright studied Civic Education and History at Kwame Nkrumah University in Kabwe and has now fulfilled his dream of becoming Southern Province treasurer for the Special Education Teachers Union Zambia.
Bright keeps in touch with HHI and encourages the charity to continue helping other vulnerable children.
