OUR WORK – ZAMBIA
Health – Education – Communities – Individuals
Zambia is a relatively poor country and this is evident in the areas in which HHI works and the many people who need help. The Zambia headquarters of HHI is situated on the main Livingstone Road in the town of Monze in the Southern province of Zambia.
It is 200km from the capital, Lusaka, and can be reached by bus from Livingstone or Lusaka.
HHI aims to help individuals and whole communities; to lift them out of abject poverty when even trying to get the most basic food on the table can be a struggle. Disease and disability are very common and HHI takes every opportunity to help improve health and wellbeing of people in need. Help also includes offering forms of skills training to enable individuals to improve their prospects for the future. Many individual disabled people from near and far find their way to the centre in Monze seeking direct help with acquiring mobility aids, clothing, food or funding to support training or schooling. HHI also funds sustainable projects within the surrounding communities especially when they can show that they can organise themselves into workable co-operatives.
