DAY 4 Thursday 14th September 2023
Nanga Dining Room
The Nanga dining and kitchen building, completed in 2019, was funded by HHI. It is in constant use for food preparation, eating as well as for recreational activities and learning. Before this building was in place, the students ate outside, and food was prepared in a ramshackle rondaval. Today we saw the nshima being prepared on the gas cooker and the students helping each other to wash their hands at the nearby tap. They all sat patiently around the sturdy tables, made by HHI carpenter Robbie, and waited for everyone to be served and seated.

The dining room building is pictured below and clearly shows the solar panels on the roof which were paid for by the Scottish HHI supporters, (SFHHI). The panels power the lights and the computers, and this means that the room can be used by the students after the sun goes down and also to practice their IT skills.
