DAY 5 Friday 15th September 2023

Kazolo

After our Choongo school visit, we journeyed on along a very poor dusty road to see Kazolo. He is a 38-year-old man with cerebral palsy. A year ago, he was lying in the dirt with a broken wheelchair. Today we found him sitting in an HHI wheelchair under a tree and smiling. He has a small home with a bed and mattress where his elderly father and his brother care for him as best as they can.

We had been informed that because of Kazolo’s incontinence, his mattress was not in a good state. Alistair, the HHZ seamstress had made three mattress covers lined with plastic and these were given to Kazolo’s family to use every day and also some male incontinence pads.  Robbie ensured that the wheelchair was in good order.  Kazolo’s family were very pleased to see us and treated us to a dance with smiles.
