Advent – International Volunteer Day December 5th
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 15:40
Did you know that since 1985, December 5th has been designated International Volunteer Day? On this day volunteers and voluntary organisations are encouraged to raise awareness of and celebrate the work they undertake.
All of us as HHI volunteers do just that! However, we do not designate one day only to do this. Every single opportunity is taken to promote our work, and in terms of progress, every tiny baby step or record-breaking leap is lauded loudly!
And why? Well, we all – trustees, committee members and supporters have clearly heard, understood and gladly responded to the call,
‘’ For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’’
Matthew 40: 35-36
In your prayers today we ask that you remember the work of HHI and that those we seek to serve may be given the Advent promise of HOPE for the FUTURE.
