Strathaven Open Gardens Day Saturday 30th August 2025 – 10.am till 4.00 pm
We have been able to secure the support of twelve garden owners in the Strathaven area who have generously agreed to have their gardens open to visitors, mainly on Saturday 30th August, but two of them on Saturday 23rd August. This is perhaps later than we would have liked and some of the gardens may be a little past their best but all are worth a visit. A lot will depend on the weather beforehand and on the day.
The gardens will be available to visit between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm. Refreshments will be available at some of them for which donations to HHI will be invited. Garden produce – fruit and vegetables, jams and chutneys – will also be on sale in two of the gardens.
Garden Guides including a map showing the locations of the gardens and brief descriptions of them and their contents are now available for a donation of £5 in aid of HHI. These can be obtained at Youngs Garden Centre, the Common Greenery Garden Centre, Creative Strathaven CIC in Bridge Street and Craigs Newsagents or from any of our committee members. The monies raised from the Open Gardens Day will be contributed to HHI’s 2025 fund raising campaign to raise £30,000 to provide a new building for the Happy Valley Special Needs School for disadvantaged children in Kerala.
