Spreading the word

At the end of the last school year, there were a few days left before the long break. What did we do? We shared some of the information about how children live in Zambia.

This is exactly what happened with the year 5 pupils in a large London Primary school. It is a rights respecting school with ‘Caring Values’, and the children had been focusing on UNICEF articles declaring children’s rights and acceptance of others in the world. They had been learning about international charities and sharing stories about disabled Zambian children, and the work of HHI in supporting them, was very appropriate.  They learnt about children who had suffered snake bites which led to mobility problems, disabled children who have long distances to travel to school without a wheelchair, and many families with little food and no toys.

The London pupils were totally engaged with what they heard and saw in the presentation and to complete their learning experience they made their own  toys out of unwanted junk as the Zambian children do.
