A moo-ving story
We recently told you how Sally raised nearly £2000 for HHI by jumping out of an aeroplane. She asked that some of the money could be used to buy a cow for someone in need.
We had just such a person lined up – Nirmala, a widow who lives in the Neyyar Dam area of India. Her son, whom she might expect to support her in her old age, has mental health problems, so she was reliant on the income from selling milk from her cow. But then disaster struck – the monsoon rains caused a tree to fall down on top of the cow, killing it, and leaving her destitute. Now she has been able to find another cow, we sent out the purchase cost (just under £500), and her future is secure for the foreseeable future. And, as an added bonus, the cow has just calved, giving her an extra source of income.
Thank you Sally!
