ADVENT CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM HEALTH HELP ZAMBIA

Mr Gondwe, chair of HHZ trustees, writes:

“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. (Mark 10:15&16)

ISAIAH HATWAMBO

You may wish to know that Priscilla Hatwambo has a double disability (physical and been dumb) and that she is one of the clients who receives support from Health Help Zambia. Priscilla has been a role model to many young women living with disabilities in her communities. Despite been disabled she’s able to assist with house chores and makes door mats too.

About 4 years ago, Priscilla was raped and impregnated by an unknown person and investigations were done but nothing useful came out. She later gave birth to a handsome baby boy and Priscilla had been left with the burden of raising the child alone. Even though both of her parents are living, it has never been easy since her mother and father are equally disabled.

Children are a blessing from God, thus Priscilla decided to keep the pregnancy until she gave birth to a baby boy and named him Isaiah. However, the child would love to experience the love of a father, and we know that if the father would show up at any point in Isaiah’s childhood life, it is highly likely that Isaiah would accept him. This would be as a result of the forgiving heart that children have, since they don’t harbor grudges. Jesus Christ said, ‘’Let the little children come to me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as they’ -’Matthew 19:14

Isaiah could have had a lot of challenges if it were not for the assistance from HHI UK in collaboration with HHZ. This assistance cannot be taken for granted especially that it comes purely from people who have voluntarily given themselves to a life of helping the needy in our communities. This to me is an example of the story of the Good Samaritan as outlined in the Holy Scriptures -Luke 10:25-37

According to our assessment, Isaiah is growing and very soon he will have to get into school and will need educational support. Priscilla will not manage to send the boy to school as she and her family rely totally on support from HHI UK.

Once Isaiah is supported and becomes independent, he would be able to take care of his mother in future. Not only would he become independent, but will shall put a smile on his face for the rest of his life. If Isaiah is not taken to school, he might end up in the streets as a drunkard or thief. And when such happens, we would definitely have tears of sorrow and not joy. We really thank God that Isaiah is not disabled; thus, our prayer is to support this young boy so that he has a brighter future, and we equally believe, that is Priscilla’s prayer too!!

Mr Gondwe with Priscilla and Isaiah

Whenever the HHZ team visit Ntambo, Isaiah, Priscilla and her parents see in us messengers of good will with messages of hope from HHI UK – Isaiah 6:8

We draw many lessons as we continue to interact with our clients; one of which is that struggles bring freedom and that no one is an island. God always surrounds us with helpers to bring hope and comfort in our lives. Thus, HHZ and HHI UK are those helpers providing aid to Priscilla and the only way to provide sustainable assistance is empowering and educating Isaiah.

Prayer
God, our Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we give You thanks that, like the angels at Bethlehem so long ago, HHZ are today being ‘Messengers of Goodwill’ for people like Priscilla and Isaiah.
