DAY 11- 18th JANUARY 2026

SMALL HELPS THAT MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE  (Part 4)

Today was not so busy, as befits a Sunday. Tom and I went to Pilgrim Highland Church, which raised the funds for the original building at Thanal back in 2008 and continues to support them faithfully. I was able to thank them for this.

Then, after lunch at the monastery at Trppaadam we went to visit two people wanting support. Prasanna is a survivor of ovarian cancer who needs three injections a year to keep the cancer at bay. A quirk of Indian funding left her liable to pay £250 for this, but she had no money to pay for it. After a bit of discussion, I was happy to give her the full amount.

The other supplicant was a lot better off. She wanted money for a test that she said would cost near £1000. A quick internet search showed that it was available in Trivandrum for £65. So no deal! You do have to be on the ball over here.

Back at the hotel I agreed next year’s budget. The increases were very moderate and can easily be accommodated by the improvement in the exchange rate over the last couple of years.
