Day 2 – 9th October 2025 Monze

We’re on a Mission!

Morning Prayers and Welcome

Our first morning began in the HHZ compound with a warm welcome from the HHZ staff followed by prayers of thanks and hymn singing. The new hard back Mission Praise books, a gift from SFHHI, our Scottish committee, were put to good use!

A Typical Morning at the HHZ Compound

Mothers with disabled children were already waiting for assistance outside the HHZ office. A wheelchair was needed; funding was sought to enable visits to hospital appointments and one young man, aged 27, needed stoma bags. He had none left and had resorted to using plastic bags.

The mothers with disabled children received food parcels; funding for hospital visits was provided from donations received from UK supporters and, thanks to thoughtful UK hospitals and individuals, there were plenty of stoma items available.

Grace

Grace is doing very well with her sewing business. Amazingly, she has been able to purchase land to build a small home which she hopes to rent out to supplement her income in future.  More materials and extra sewing resources were given to Grace who is so pleased with the support she is receiving from HHIUK that she gave us a gift of a chicken and samp!!

Monze Mission Hospital

The visit to Monze Mission hospital was, again, very worthwhile. Four very large bags of stoma and colostomy equipment along with other much needed medical resources were donated to Dr Ibrahim.

The nurses, the nutritionist and the paediatrician were very welcoming.  They thanked HHI for the difference we are making each month with our regular contribution towards feeding the children a healthy diet and for enabling the staff to deliver an educational nutritional feeding programme to the mothers of malnourished infants.

The children’s wards were full. There were some very sad cases of fragile babies, sick children and extremely premature newborn babies. The hospital is struggling to fund the cost of formula milk which is sorely needed in all the wards as the many mothers are failing to breast feed because of their poor diet.

Today’s Challenge: Food for Thought!

We left Monze Mission Hospital with a strong feeling that HHI can and will meet the challenge of the urgent and ongoing need to support the children, baby and malnutrition wards but only through the efforts of our generous support base!

We know you’re on it! Thank you!
