Tuesday 15th October 2024
The much-needed rain arrived overnight and a cooler, more comfortable day followed. There is hope that this is a good sign for the months ahead.
During morning prayers people in need were seen gathering to seek assistance from HHZ. Brenda and Mwansa, dealt with every request in a highly professional manner.
Among them was Blessing. 5 years old and blind since birth, he is very keen to start school. Very bright and chatty, and even able to count to 10 in English, he said that he would love to become a doctor. He has been added to the list to start school in January 2025.

Mother of six, Midnight, who supports her children alone while her husband is in prison, has very small underweight twins, Luke and Andrew. Although Midnight has been seen by Monze Mission hospital, her situation is desperate, and she was grateful for the environmentally friendly waterproof nappies and £36 given to her to buy baby milk for a month. HHZ also provided a bag of mealie meal and money for transport home. (Pictures attached).

Off to Ntambo.
John drove extremely well along the rough, dry, terrain with Mr Gondwe sitting beside him in the passenger seat. (Pic attached of the dry landscape)
Drought -what do the cows eat?
Ntambo Sichiyanda – The Disabled Club
This amazing group had gathered under the shade of the tree to receive Jute, Kath, Mr Gondwe and John. They thanked HHZ and HHI with speeches and applause for helping them register themselves as ‘disabled club’. Chabilo’s mother, the group secretary, thanked HHZ and HHI for enabling them to pay the registration fee which will allow the club to receive seed, and fertilizer from the government. They also want to keep chickens, goats and pigs. Of the disabled children within the families, two have been funded into Nanga school by HHI and two of the disabled young ladies will begin tailoring tuition from Alistair in November. They produced a sample of the foods which they have been forced to rely on because of the drought. Unfortunately, this food is not suitable for disabled children.
Chabilo, the disabled son of the Ntambo Group secretary, was smiling and content, but his wheelchair has been taken back to Monze in the Hilux for Robbie to fix.

Priscilla Hatwambo
Priscilla, who does not hear or speak and who has mobility problems, lives in Ntambo with her young son, Isaiah. Their home, built using the generous donations of HHI supporters, has recently been repaired by HHZ and looks very good.
Priscilla and Isaiah were delighted to see Jute, Kath, Mr Gondwe and John. She has been making clothes using her machine, and because she needed some machine oil, spare needles, and coloured cotton it was decided that these would be purchased in Monze with Alistair’s help and using HHI funds and be delivered to Priscilla as soon as possible.
Her monthly food supplies were delivered and signed for but unfortunately, the vegetables planted by her father which were growing well, have been eaten by free roaming cattle.
