Happy Valley back on track

We are back on track with our plans for a permanent home for Happy Valley, our special needs centre in Kerala.  For many years this has operated out of rented buildings that are not entirely suitable.  It also leaves the future of this transformative work uncertain.

Philip has agreed to buy a plot of land to the north of Nedumangad (good – many children come from that direction) and is in a rural settling (good – no neighbours to upset) with good access.  It isn’t flat (nothing in Kerala is) but isn’t too bad – Philip says it’s not as uneven as the Thanal House site was, I would say about the same – either way it is very manageable.

The site is larger than we need, so Philip has arranged to sell off the excess as small building plots at a profit, which will reduce the overall cost of the project.

The deal is due to go through tomorrow (Wednesday 15th July).  After that the priorities are site clearance, building a boundary wall, engaging an architect to design a suitable building, and digging a well.  By then we should have a better idea of what the project will cost and how much Philip is able to raise locally.

Please pray that this will all go through smoothly.
