Hospital work – Shibu
Shibu helping a man
“Is Shibu still able to work in the hospital?” is a question I get asked. The answer is a resounding “yes”. At the time of writing he is looking after five patients. Philip writes:
This man is deaf, about 30 years old. We don’t know his name. He is also handicapped – no proper sight. He had an accident, his left hand was broken. The police man brought him to hospital two weeks ago. We take care of him and help him.
Jova Selvaraj 65 years old, from Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu. He had an accident, and his left hand was broken. No friends and relatives. He picked old things and sold it. Admitted to hospital one week ago. He needs help tor go to the toilet.
Surendran 63 years old from Varkala, Trivandrum district. He fell down into a stream. His leg and back bone are broken. He can’t move. He was admitted two weeks ago.
Babu 57 year, from Thonnakkal , Trivandrum district. He was addicted to alcohol. His wife and children bit his leg. He can’t move. He was admitted to hospital 10 days ago.
Binoy 47 years, from Kollam. He fell down from a tree. His leg is broken and he can’t move. He was admitted to hospital in Kollam and shifted to Medical College hospital. His operations is over. He needs help to move. He has no contact with his family – most of the time he spent at the bus station and in front of the shops.
So yes, Shibu is still at work in the hospital and still being kept busy looking after a stream of patients who would not get treated without him.
