Operation Choongo!

HHI has had a good relationship with Choongo school, in the Monze district, for a number of years.  The school often received much needed sports equipment as well as educational items from the containers that were once sent from the UK.  Indeed, when the Strathaven scouts visited in 2009, they undertook some general maintenance work on the building.  This included a fresh coat of paint and reglazing of some of the classroom windows.  And, of course, HHI supporters fund the education of six of the students in the residential disabled unit.

Bibian

Bibian

Bibian (see picture), is one of the residential students. Although Bibian is 22 years old she desperately wanted to return to school having missed most of her learning opportunities while she was being treated for a very difficult lymphatic disease. Following the amputation of her leg she is enjoying being a full-time student at Choongo school.

And here’s the challenge…

The House mothers prepare food for the residential disabled students in very basic conditions in this dilapidated shed (see pictures) which is in dire need of updating.  It has been calculated that a total of £5,000 will enable a brand-new kitchen to be built. So, will you, our generous supporters, rise to the challenge of funding this project and also pray for the success of…
