Successful Sewing Skills

Each month we send out money to Wilson K who runs a small Indian NGO in a poor area of southern India.  One project that has been very successful is training impoverished women in sewing skills, and helping them to buy a sewing machine.  The training for a group of women costs £75 a month, and we contribute £50 towards the cost of a manual sewing machine.

Last month we enabled Mrs. Rekha, a widow with a child, to buy her own machine.  This is incredibly cost effective – a sewing machine can pay for itself in about six weeks.  As Wilson says, “Now she is very happy and start to earn money for her daily life from this tailoring machine.”
