DAY 5 – 12th JANUARY 2026

ASHA KIRAN ASHRAM (Part 1)

Today we travelled across the border into Tamil Nadu and to our first special needs centre, Asha Kiran Ashram – always a highlight of our trip. Here we were welcomed by the local team from Grace Ministries, who have been pouring new life and resources into this wonderful project over the last couple of years. And they have great plans for the future. We live in exciting times.

And of course it was the children who really matter. A local supporter provides a cake on anyone’s birthday, and today it was Saran’s seventh. Saran arrived just one week ago, suffering from cerebral palsy and polio. He has already been assessed, and physiotherapy should ensure that he will be much better able to move around in a few months – he has already been fitted with callipers.

There is just one residential student at the moment, Mala. She was sitting alone, inactive and obviously bored. I was able to get some dance music put up on the television and she joined in. I just wish that everyone’s problems could be solved so easily.
