‘Helps’
In our articles we occasionally mention the ‘Helps’ programme. As a rule, HHI always aims to ensure that the money given by our supporters is used in a way which will help generate an income in order to sustain an individual, family or community for a decent length of time. However, we are also aware that some of our vulnerable, sick or disabled recipients need immediate support. And it is the responsibility of the Beneficiaries Committee at HHZ to determine which type of help of the applicants will receive. At the HHI office we know that they do not have an easy task because every month we are sent a report and all the ‘helps’ are listed.
Along with a recent report we were sent a picture of a disabled five year old girl who has learning difficulties. Both her parents suffer with mental illness and she is looked after by her grandmother. So, 500 Kwacha (about £40) was given to support her with food. We are very aware that there are many, many needy children in Zambia who could benefit from the support of HHI in terms of a sustainable project, a decent education, medical intervention or occasionally ‘helps’. And it is because of the awareness of the need of others that so many of our loyal and generous followers continue to offer financial, practical and prayerful support. Thank you for your ‘helps’.
