Letter from India – Salini this time

Thanal House is a home for destitute women who have been found wandering the streets of Trivandrum and the surrounding areas. Many of them have serious psychiatric problems. HHI has been helping with the running costs of the home for many years: at the moment we send about £300 a month, but we sent a bit extra for Christmas.

It was a great delight to receive an update from Salini just before Christmas. She writes:

Dear Edmund,
Loving greetings to you in the name of our lord saviour Jesus Christ. Hope you all are fine.
We all are fine by the grace of God. We received the money Rs.54,000 + 5000.
Thank you so much for your support. Especially Christmas food. Still nobody donate Christmas food because of covid19 social distance.
Last week me, Shanil & Crissie got fever. Those days We struggled with kitchen. Now feeling better.
We had Covid test from Government Health Centre. They came Thanal and checked up all the ladies.

All are negative. Thanks to God.
We received the Order from social justice department not to allowed visitors because of Covid-19, not to take new admission, not to receive prepaid food. So our main gate is closed. We are obeying the rule.
Because this reason our some of the supporters stopped to give us food. Some people are still coming in the main gate and giving provisions.
That is why our situation is little bad, very less provisions. difficult to give non veg food also. But each day God doing miracle for us.
Our long time dream has fulfilled. New toilet work finished. Our ladies are enjoying with shower bath.

Wish you all love, peace and joy in this season and forever!. God bless you all.
Salini

Other than that, the life of the home continues as normal, with the ladies helping with cooking, harvesting, processing the coconuts, cleaning, or just enjoying the cool of evening together, playing badminton, or on a swing.
